How to Activate Your BlogUtils License

Time Required: 2 minutes
Step 1

Find Your License Key

  1. Log in to your account at dashboard
  2. Your license key is displayed under each purchased plugin
  3. Click the "Copy" button to copy your license key to clipboard
Example License Key Format:
clx1234567890abcdef

Tip: You can also find your license key in your purchase confirmation email.

Step 2

Install Your Plugin

  1. Download the plugin ZIP file from your dashboard
  2. In WordPress admin, go to Plugins → Add New
  3. Click Upload Plugin
  4. Choose the downloaded ZIP file
  5. Click Install Now
  6. Click Activate

Note: After activation, you'll see a notice asking you to activate your license.

Step 3

Activate Your License

  1. After plugin activation, you'll see a notice to activate your license
  2. Go to Settings → [Plugin Name] (e.g., Settings → Word Count)
  3. Scroll to the License Activation section at the top of the settings page
  4. Paste your license key into the text field
  5. Click Activate License (or Save Changes)

You should see a green checkmark and "Active" status along with your customer email!

Troubleshooting

License Key Not Working

Issue: "Invalid license key" error

Solutions:

  • Verify you copied the entire key (no spaces or line breaks)
  • Make sure you're using the correct license for this plugin
  • Each plugin requires its own license key
  • If you purchased a bundle, you'll have 4 separate keys (one for each plugin)
  • Try copying the key again from your dashboard
Settings Not Saving

Issue: License key doesn't persist after saving

Solutions:

  • Check that your WordPress installation has write permissions to the database
  • Disable other plugins temporarily to check for conflicts
  • Try clearing your browser cache and cookies
  • Check your browser's JavaScript console for errors (F12 → Console tab)
Can't Reach Activation Server

Issue: "Could not connect to activation server" error

Solutions:

  • Check your server's internet connection
  • Verify your firewall allows outbound HTTPS connections to blogutils.com
  • Your plugin will continue to work during the grace period (network failures are handled gracefully)
  • Try again in a few minutes
  • Contact your hosting provider if the issue persists
License Already in Use

Issue: "This license is already activated on another site"

Solution:

  • Don't worry! BlogUtils licenses work on unlimited websites
  • This message shouldn't appear under normal circumstances
  • If you see this error, please contact support immediately

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I Use My License on Multiple Sites?
Yes! All BlogUtils licenses work on unlimited websites. There are no activation limits or domain restrictions. Activate on as many sites as you want!
Do I Need to Renew My License?

No! Your license is lifetime. Pay once, use forever. No subscriptions, no renewal fees, no hidden costs.

Updates: We'll email you when updates are available. Download the new version from your dashboard and reinstall (your settings and license remain intact).

How Do I Update My Plugin?

When we release an update, we'll send you an email notification. To update:

  1. Download the new version from your dashboard
  2. In WordPress, go to Plugins → Installed Plugins
  3. Deactivate the old version
  4. Delete the old version
  5. Upload and activate the new ZIP file

Important: Your settings will be preserved during the update. Your license key will remain active.

Can I Transfer My License to a Different Website?

Yes! Since there are no domain limits, you can use your license on any website. Just:

  1. Install the plugin on the new site
  2. Enter your license key in the settings

There's no need to "deactivate" from the old site first.

What Happens If I Deactivate the Plugin?

Your license remains valid forever. You can:

  • Reactivate it anytime on the same site
  • Use it on a different site
  • Store it for future use

Deactivating or uninstalling the plugin doesn't affect your license status.

Is My License Key Secure?

Yes! License keys are:

  • Stored securely in your WordPress database (wp_options table)
  • Never exposed in JavaScript or frontend HTML
  • Only transmitted over HTTPS during activation
  • Only sent to BlogUtils servers (never to third parties)

We don't track your domain, IP address, or any user data. The only information sent during activation is your license key and the plugin slug.

Does the Plugin Slow Down My Website?

No! License validation only happens once during activation (takes less than 200ms). After that, there's zero performance impact.

The plugins are highly optimized:

  • Minimal database queries
  • Lightweight CSS/JS
  • No external API calls after activation
  • No tracking or analytics code
What If the License Server Is Down?

Your plugin continues to work normally! We have a grace period system that allows plugins to function even if our validation API is temporarily unreachable.

In the extremely rare event of extended downtime, your plugin will keep working without interruption.
